STRATFORD, CT –The Wells Fargo Foundation has awarded $15,000 in funding to Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (CFC) to support the construction of an affordable house at 311 Deacon Street in the East End of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (CFC) is one of more than 131 Habitat for Humanity affiliates awarded grant funding through the 2025 Wells Fargo Builds program to increase access to affordable homes across the U.S.
The grant supporting Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County will help build the brand-new ENERGY STAR certified, and affordable house on Deacon Street.
In addition to this incredible grant award to assist with the construction of the Deacon Street house, Wells Fargo volunteers also participated in a Corporate Team Build Day just two blocks away at a second Habitat build site located on Clifford Street. On September 12, 2025, the Wells Fargo team helped Habitat staff make incredible progress on installing siding on the future home.
The Corporate Build Day is part of a Wells Fargo initiative called Welcome Home, whereby Wells Fargo employees across the country are working with local charities to make an impact on the company foundation’s funding priority, housing affordability. Throughout the month of September, Wells Fargo employees participated in volunteer events like this one in Bridgeport.
Bruce Jackson Esq., Board Chair for Habitat for Humanity CFC, stated, “Creating new affordable homeownership opportunities and partnering with low-income, working families to reach their full potential as homeowners truly takes a village. We are deeply grateful for our neighbors at the Wells Fargo Foundation and its dedicated staff, whose continued commitment brings meaningful, positive change to so many families in Coastal Fairfield County and beyond.”
At least one in six Connecticut households spend over half of their income on housing and the number of Bridgeport families who are struggling to afford rent is on the rise.
This funding is part of a more than $4.6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International through the 2025 Wells Fargo Builds program to help support more than 200 families in communities nationwide.
